Haku crawled out from beneath the ice dome that was his home. It stayed mostly solid even in summer but was a little bit more conspicuous then so he summered as deep into the woods as he dared. As he aged he had gained more control of his abilities.His strength had increased too. he now could do most daily tricks without passing out.
Enough so that he could make a shelter for himself using water from the lake by which he lived. Haku could now summon the water from twenty feet away from the water source and was working on increasing that range. He got so tired from practicing that last year he fell asleep in class and was woken up with the teacher banging on his desk.
Haku had become somewhat of a night owl during the summer months sleeping most of the day safe and cool in the ice. Coming out to roam around at night where he could enjoy the beauty alone, recently though. he had seen some one in the park almost every night in fact. He wondered who that person was and why they roamed the park at so late an hour.
Pulling out a bag with that nights clothes inside along with a few necessities he began to walk toward the closest of the lakes. The new school year was starting in tomorrow morning and he wanted to be fresh and clean by then."will the mysterious person come to visit to night i wonder."
Haku spoke his thought quietly aloud.flicking his wrist he summon water from the opened water jug he had just pulled from his bag. With a little effort he begin drawing patterns with the water.

The streets were silent, no no more than silent, they were dead. It surprised Zabuza actually, it was a school night and normally around the time the party animals began to emerge from their caves. He yawned a bit, and continued his stroll through the city. There were always dangers lurking about, so he had to keep on his toes.
Eventually he found himself in the park, the only company was the few street lamps that lit the way. Zabuza heard a mere cricket or two, chirping, taunting him all of the way. His eyes scanned the area, he kept seeing the same freshmen over and over but it seemes as if this was the one night he wouldnt see the gender confused teen.
Once again his eyes caught the sight, his ears heard the swish of water. Yup, it was him alright, big surprise there. His pace wasnt slow, but it was silent. Zabuza quickly crept up on the freshmen, watching him every step of the way to make sure he didnt try anything.
"Who are you?" Zabuza`s voice boomed, he stood not to far in front of Haku now. But in the dim lighting he looked like a giant lurking shadow

Haku jumped a good foot off the ground at the sound of the voice. In his fright his consentration was severed for a brief instant. it was enough the water he was playing with dropped to the ground with a splash. He glared at the shadow. "not nice to sneak up on people" haku mumbled this.
He was startled to say the least and debating were or not to turntail and run home. It was not every day some snuck up on him and he was mildly wondering how the guy did it.He tensed up ready to run or fight if neccary. Crossing his arms across his chest he tried to see eperson behind the shadow better.No such luck it was too dark.
"W-What do you want?" Haku was surpraised at the tremble in his own voice. "and Who are you?" There was an edge in his voice as if he found his strength. He was of course intrigued by the sound of the voice but tryed not to show it.
Haku frowned and took a step back, he had just realized something. He was without a weapon of any kind thanks to the start and he was alone in the park with someone he didn't know.Spinning on his heel he made his way walking fast in the opposite dicrection from the way he had been facing. he was still within ear shot of anything said.

"Then pay more attention to your surroundings."
Zabuza let out a loud menacing exhale when Haku questioned him. It wasnt the wisest thing to avoid and ask questions to such a scary character, such as himself. He took a couple of large steps forward, coming out of the shadows. His frightening appearance truly did live up to his nickname the demon of the mist. All he needed was a little lightning and thunder in the background to add to the villainous atmosphere about him.
Quite frankly wasnt sure if Haku was a boy or a girl, but he looked so feminine so Zabuza assumed Haku was a girl. A pretty one at that. He brushed those thoughts aside for the moment. Under the bandages that covered his face he cracked a toothy grin. He had scared the crap out of Haku, which was his main goal.
"And I do believe that I asked who you were first." Hissed the demonic looking senior.

Haku felt rather than heard the man fallow him and heard the answer to his grumbling.Taking a chance and he turned slowly around to face the man. He scanned the ground quickly and the looked up into the bandaged face. "Haku." He spoke the word quietly and then smiled softly."I am Haku." He said it a little firmer.
He put his right hand over his left one, standing very still he repeated his question. " Were you look for me?And who are you, sir?"Haku could summon the water he had spilled before and maybe more from the pond beside which he now stood.He didn't want to do that however.
It would not be a good to antagonize someone he didn't know. Especially if that someone was bigger than him. Haku made a motion with his concealed left hand, freeze the water he had drop earlier with a soft crackle. He could if pushed move the ice by unfreezing it and then refreezing it, but that was wearying.
Weary was not something he wanted to be right now. He mentally estimated that if he ran away the taller guy could catch him fairly easily.He has longer strides, sometimes being short really was a bad thing. Haku thought half amused and half pissed.

The taller man nearly laughed at the first quiet little response. Haku, the name sounded girly enough perhaps he was right about this weirdo after all. His eyes drifted the ice fall and then smash on the ground. Who was this kid? Ice wasnt something you saw that often, it would be perfect for a side kick.
"Haku eh, your a freshy right?" He hissed, keeping that smile demon like little smile. In almost an instant Zabuza charged him, but came to a dead stop right in front of him. Zabuza stared down at him with wide crazy eyes.
"The names Zabuza Momochi." Zabuza held out his large hand for them to greet properly. If Haku was a freshmen he had to be a lonely one if he was just out and about all hours of the night. One after another ideas popped into his head.

"umm.If by that you mean am i a freshmen,then yes i am.What are you and what school do you go to?" Haku hid his surpraise at being face to chest with the man. Zabuza was nearly a head taller than he."you move fast."He hestantly put his right hand into the profered one."hello Zabuza." haku greeted him as warmly as he could.
Haku wondered weather or not he could get back to his hiding place from here.probly not while shaking hands with Zabuza. He wondered what would happen next and wishing this Zabuza would leave. but all the while dreading that the man might hear his thoughts and take the hint.
"Sir, you kind of interupted something rather important." Haku blushed lightly at his own words. "You see I start school tomarrow and i kind of wanted to look my best." He trailed off into an unintelable murmur.
Haku was staring at his feet as if seeing them for the first time and just then realizing he wasn't waring any shoes. He had some of course dress shoes for his school uniforms, two sets both the male and female versions. This was becuase he had both sets of uniforms. they were safe in his home neatly folded up

"Im a senior, " Zabuza replied, after they finished shaking hands he folded his arms tightly across his chest, letting the muscles in his arms be know. He was a very proud individual, and loved pretty much everything about himself. The senior could tell that he made this Haku kid uncomfortable, Zabuza had to wonder why though.. he thought he was being pretty nice. He didnt even say anything threatening yet.
Zabuza tilted his head to the side as if he was remembering something, that toothy grin was still all over his face as he recalled why he had to transfer to the High School in Konoha. He blinked a few times as he remembered that he had been asked a question.
"Konoha High, got kicked out of the Mist." He raised one of his very tiny, hardly noticeable, eyebrows. What kind of guy cared about his appearance on the first day of school? Then again Haku hardly was a man at all, in fact Zabuza didnt think he was a guy.
"Heh, what ever kid..." Zabuza turned the other way and began to slowly walk away, he was debating on if he should go to school the next day or not.

Haku relized his mistake when zabuza began to walk a way."Wait Zabuza,please."Haku pleaded trying to get infront of zabuza in the hopes of halting him."I made a mistake and...and overreacted but you scared me when you moved so fast and you had scared me before so i didnt know what to expect from you. I thought you were going to hurt me you could you know if you chose. I'm sorry please forgive me.And some times creeps roam the park at night how was i suppose to know you weren't one of them!' Haku puased gasping for breath and his head spun. he was so out breath that he felt dizzy.
'I live here all the time,zabuza.I've learned to run first and ask question later. If people wander about i try to keep out of sight. I've learned to be wary of any one who gets to close. please forgive me." His voice finally failed. Haku frowned saddly and hid his face in his left hand.
"Can I try again? please." He mumbled from his 'hiding place'. Haku hoped to hear the answer would be yes.He would smile so happily and dance for joy. If not then he would weep some before the dawn and school.

During Haku`s little speech he stopped, but didnt turn around for the most part. He listened to the monologue, wondering why telling him to back off was a mistake, quite frankly he couldnt remember a person that he hadnt told to go away. Towards the ending of the spiel, Zabuza quickly turned on one foot and kept that tiny little eyebrow of his raised.
"Geez kid take it easy. Dont die on me. Im not quite sure what your mistake was.... but what ever. Dont have a hissy fit." Zabuza put up his hands in defense incase Haku started crying or something. If it got down to that he was ready to bolt. "So... uhh... start over.. I guess?"

Haku held out his small hand and breathed a happy sigh. "nice to meet you Zabuza. will you be at school tomarrow?" He wondered weather or not Zabuza liked him really. Haku smiled and thought of how to tell his true gender to Zabuza and lughed out loud though it came out as a light airy chuckle.He was picturing Zabuza's face at that moment. "will you be my friend at least? I'm not so scared of you now i think."
Much was to be done to be ready for tomarrow. Haku had desided he would be a girl his first day of school. Iwonder what school will be like "do you like School Zabuza?"

Zabuza shook Haku`s hand for the second time, his couldnt keep the grin on his face any longer. It wasnt that he was not happy per say, mostly because his face wasnt used to grinning for such extended amounts of time. Now Haku was just starting to creep him out, but that could be used to his advantage. Maybe the other students would leave him alone if he had a freaky little freshmen minion following him around. Not the most realistic idea, but it was worth a shot.
" I might go to school, still debating on if I feel like it or not." He replied to Haku`s first question, the listened to the next one. An actual friend? If somebody knew that they were friends they might use that against him.... Zabuza would just have to toughen up Haku.
"Sure... I guess. As for liking school.... HA, yeah right. Its the biggest waste of my time."

THe scene fades to white as they go thier sparate ways. Haku to his bed and Zabuza to god only knows where at the dead of night. What will happen with them remains to be seen. hatird? friendship? or maybe even love.
We'll just have to see.
